What is a Process+ Action Object ?
Definition
A Process+ Action Object is a user defined configuration of control loop information, which is deployed online for loop monitoring. As a user, you will configure your Action Object to generate Process+ KPIs of the control loop functioning at the end of a defined period, such as at the need of every shift or day.
A Process+ Action Object consists of the following configuration:
-
control loop information
-
data source
-
configuration and specifications for the required Process+ KPIs
A Process+ Action Object is configured by adding existing control loops to the monitoring system, together with the loop definition information, and specifying the appropriate data source for the loop data. Process+ Action Objects can be executed on either real-time or historical data. Data read by the Action Object is used to calculate statistics (Process+ KPIs) about the control loop.
Typically, a Process Engineer would configure Process+ Action Objects in the CSense Runtime Manager , and then deploy these online for automated control loop monitoring.

Configuration input |
Description |
Pre-configured loop definitions file (.csv) |
Details existing control loop information to be used for control loop monitoring, such as which process tags to use, the limits of the tag values, and control mode tags. Optionally, this file also details tags to be written to Historian. |
|
Select from available plant data sources. |
Reads plant data from selected historians or real-time data sources. The data is used to generate Process+ KPIs. |
|
Reporting Period |
Select from available shifts. |
The Reporting Period consists of the shifts that are defined data windows over which the data source reads the interim data and calculates the Process+ KPIs. |
Select the data window. |
Reading the data from the data source, for the required Process+ KPIs, over the defined data window. |
|
Script |
Defines the control mode that the system will run in, according to the rules defined for and applicable to the control mode tags. |
Ad hoc Process+ Action Objects
Sometimes, it is necessary to calculate Process+ KPIs on an ad hoc basis - to check the control loop functioning over a particular time period, or from a particular dataset. For these situations, it is possible to deploy an Action Object on a once-off basis.
Adding an Action Object for ad hoc Process+ KPI calculations to the CSense Runtime Manager is the same process as adding an Action Object for scheduled and repeated modes. The only difference is that Action Objects for ad hoc Process+ KPI calculations can only read data from historical data sources, as they require immediate access to already present loop data.
Note: When deleting an ad hoc Process+ Action Object - it is not possible to save the loop information, and simply delete the loops from the Action Object. All loop information and Process+ KPIs are permanently deleted.
